About this listen

Jaws is the classic blockbuster thriller that inspired the three-time Academy Award-winning Steven Spielberg movie and made millions of beachgoers afraid to go into the water. Experience the thrill of helpless horror again—or for the first time!

Jaws was number 48 in the American Film Institute's 100 Years...100 Movies, and the film earned the coveted number-one spot on the Bravo network's 100 Scariest Movie Moments countdown.

This timeless tale of man-eating terror that spawned a movie franchise, two video games, a Universal Studios theme park attraction, and two musicals is finally available on audio for the first time ever!

3.5 stars

Very well narrated, for a pretty good book that has some truly fantastic descriptive passages that amp up the tension, but then also makes almost every character wholly unlikeable and difficult to root for.

A brilliant novel

I have to say that I purchased this book being a fan of the film, and was hoping that the book would be half as good. I was more than pleased with the book which as per usual delves deeper into the characters. Although parts of the book now feel dated, the story doesn't suffer for it.

A wonderful book with colourful characters, if you love the film, you'll love the book as well.

Unlike the film

More intricate and involved than the film; a G8 novel for taking to the beach

Awesome

Very well read by Erik Steele, fantastic book. Utterly enjoyable, the narration was spot on, it was the first time listening but won’t be the last. A book you can listen to again and again.

Classic. Miles better than the film!

Great novel, so well written. Miles better than the film. A little dry in the performance but very good none the less.

RIVETING!

I read this book as a young teen and remember loving it... what a joy to indulge in listening to it some thirty five years later... the movie was good but sadly does little justice to this incredible tale... its about so much more than a fish...an absolute thrill ride... beautifully read...

Amazing

I absolutely loved it and enjoyed every minute of it. I couldn't stop thinking about it, even when I was at work, taking a shower or eating breakfast. Amazing story, voice and performance.

Better late than never…

I have only recently watched the movie of this book for the first time, at 25 I’m obviously way too young to have seen the movie when it was originally released… I am so glad I used an Audible credit to purchase this novel because I’m thoroughly enjoying it thanks to the excellent narration by the reader, the enjoyment of too many Audible titles is spoiled by poor (verging on irritating) narration… From the get go the narrator drew me into the book which inspired quite a good movie with their clear enunciation and perfectly paced narration with just the right amount of dramatic emphasis when needed. To be honest this is the first time I have strayed away from my beloved Stephen King novels but I most definitely am not regretting taking a chance listening to Jaws the novel. I’ll not hesitate to recommend this excellent experience to anyone looking for a thoroughly engaging and enjoyable listening experience on Audible.
