About this listen

The basis for the film starring Academy Award nominee Will Smith, I Am Legend is a classic of horror and suspense.

In I Am Legend, a terrible plague has decimated the world, and those who were unfortunate enough to survive are transformed into bloodthirsty creatures of the night. Robert Neville is the last living man on earth. Every other man, woman, and child has become a vampire, and they are all hungry for Neville’s blood. By day, he is the hunter, stalking the sleeping undead through the abandoned ruins of civilization. By night, he barricades himself in his home and prays for the dawn. How long can one man survive in a world of vampires?

Richard Matheson’s chilling tale is a white-knuckle ride into a world of darkness and terror.

This is an excellent book, I agree with the points made by pretty much everyone else! I almost liked this more because of the film link, I thought I knew roughly what I was getting and so was surprised and delighted with the actual story. I loved the voice actor, very appropriate, and the story had a good pace, brilliant twists and the ending is fantastic.

I am an avid reader of many different types of fiction and enkoyed the book of I am legend, however, the audio book is wonderful, despite knowing the story and having seen the film I was gripped from start to finish. Highly recommended.

Richard Matheson is a brilliant writer of science fiction and horror, this book is a true testament to his art. It is tense, it is scary, it is sad, it is moving and it is shocking. The 'twist' or revelation in amazing. Thoroughly recommend this book, you will have shivers on your arm as you listen.

Tense and moving

This is arguably the best book by a very talented author. Robert Neville's (the main character) state of mind, as he struggles with his isolated situation, is portrayed to perfection.

If only the movie of the same name hadn't missed the point entirely!

Matheson at his best
