About this listen

'I know that living with a chronic illness in this inaccessible world is tough. Trust me, I know. But you deserve to find peace and contentment just as much as anybody else. So welcome to your one-stop guide on how to make the most of life alongside your condition, in a way that truly works for you'.

Chronic illness affects everybody differently, but we all share the goal of living meaningfully and making the most of what we have. This book exists to help you take accessible steps towards that goal and build a life that truly feels like yours.

Instead of focusing on the medical side of long-term conditions, this book dives into the important parts of everyday living that often go unspoken about - from practical advice on friendships, dating and independent living, to more reflective guidance on rediscovering your identity and learning to self-advocate.

Between these pages, you'll find bespoke information and resources curated through 10+ years of lived experience, alongside words of wisdom from diverse contributors and subject experts. This book also contains journal prompts, resource lists, and (perhaps most importantly) words of comfort and validation that people with life-altering conditions simply do not hear enough.

PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.

Practical, compassionate and encouraging

Thank you Pippa for this wonderful book. A much needed source of hope, validation & inspiration, written in a friendly, chatty way. I definitely recommend it to anyone experiencing ME/CFS, or other energy limiting conditions, especially those who have received a recent diagnosis.

When will authors learn that reading their own books is never the best way for a listener to enjoy their book!

I did listen to the brief preview and I thought I could just about manage to listen to this book, I knew the author’s voice wasn’t ideal, then 30 mins later I realised no I couldn’t manage it! There is a reason why there are professional readers who specialise in reading audio books. I really struggled with the author’s accent/monotone reading voice unfortunately it just grated on me continuously because I knew how potentially better this whole experience could have been! When you have a chronic illness where sound also affects you, that’s partially what happened to me! I need a book that feels relaxing to listen to and be less stunted.

This author has put her heart and soul into this book, it’s filled with excellent pieces of information which I struggled to absorb because of how this book was read. I appreciate that having a reader professionally read your book adds an extra expense but at least the reader can absorb the information much easier and have a much nicer experience!!

I would highly recommend having this book re recorded with a professional reader. I’m going to see if I can get a copy of this book from my library as I’m struggling so badly with the audio version!
