About this listen

Step into Nalini Singh's explosive and shockingly passionate Psy-Changeling world....

A dangerous, volatile rebel, hands stained blood red. A woman whose very existence has been erased. A love story so dark it may shatter the world itself. A deadly price that must be paid. The day of reckoning is here.

From 'the alpha author of paranormal romance' (Booklist) comes the most highly anticipated novel of her career - one that blurs the line between madness and genius, between subjugation and liberation, between the living and the dead.

Read by Angela Dawe.

Emotional rollercoaster

Such an amazing story, between the most feared Psy and a lost love that's reunited

I love this book.

Honestly I love not just this book but the whole series. A well written story about hope, betrayal, survival and love. Kaleb is a great character, it is nice to see the other side of him from past books. I definitely recommend 👌.

3.5 stars

Probably one of the better books of the series I’ve listened to, but I still often feel a bit disconnected from it all. Maybe it’s because of the narrator? I wish this series grabbed me more as it’s a great concept.

Awesome

Where does Heart of Obsidian rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Really enjoyed Caleb's story, it was a great twist to his character and answered a lot of questions.

Wonderful!

The Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh is one of the best and most detailed I’ve ever come across and Heart of Obsidian is my favourite book of the series!
The characterisation of Kaleb and Sahara was perfect, he was the perfect tortured anti-hero and she his redemption! The advancement of the Pure Psy plot arc and the potential fall of Silence were beautifully handled as well. The narration was superbly done and I can’t recommend this book enough!

Loved it BUT...

A wonderdul tale of loss, love and redemption interspersed with seriously cool magic. But, like another reviewer said, I found the narration hard on the ears. This is unlike Angela' usual high performance. Lots of sentences ending in a question mark, lack of softness in the tender moments, it kinda made continuous listening painful.

Becoming disenchanted with narrator.

I enjoyed Kaleb's story. It's one of the better stories and comes together well. The problem I have is with the narrator, I don't remember this being a problem of the earlier books, but it is in the later books. The narrator is great with different voices and when the characters are talking. The problem is with the general narrative. She's got this weird enunciation of the last word of a sentence, by extending the vowels and going up or down a tone, almost like an interogative. So instead of paused for example it would be paw-awsed? As I said I don't remember it in earlier books but I've been really noticing it in the last few.

Beautiful

I love the way thos book gives background behind Kaleb. I couldn't seem to put it down there were so many juicy bits at the end of each chapter it was hard to find a stopping point! Cannot wait to read the next one.

Interesting story slightly ruined by the narration

I found the plot itself rather fascinating, however the narration almost made me stop listening. Kept going because of the storyline. Unlikely to purchase another audiobook read by the same narrator.
