Use different narrator

I love JAK and her Castle books are excellent. This one is similar to others with enough difference to keep things interesting. Lucy is sometimes unreasonable/unrealistic - upset the male lead character couldn’t just drop everything; her pet’s destructive nature just glossed over (sorry it’s not cute) - but the most egregious is the match up between characters and narrator. There are hardly any character distinctions and Lucy seems to be about 50 and a heavy smoker, it just didn’t match. So while I think the book is as good as others the delivery let it down massively, will have to read the book myself

Perils of Preorders

I would never have purchased this if I had the opportunity to listen to the preview as the narration is awful for Lucy, the main character. It manages to be both whiny and gravelly at the same time, so a series of words that would sound reasonable in your mind if you were reading to yourself come out as a child's accusation when read by this narrator. I ended up disliking Lucy and the romance wasn't believable because of it. Strangely, the female narrator is better with the male voices. Story wise this is very similar to other recent Harmony books, female lead has an unusual talent, there's a conspiracy and they join with the male lead to defeat it.

Disappointed

Not one of JC's better book.
Narrator was disjointed in her reading. She often sounded as if she was reading the book for the first time and in many instances sounded as if she wasn’t sure what was coming next. Made the whole book sound tedious instead of interesting.
