This novel the author captures an aspect of Trinidadian society experiences and the sacrifices that are often made that are never considered or planned for.

It brought back some many memories for me and what is familiar by identifying with the some of the characters.

The narrator did a good job but he reads the dialect speech with a Jamaican accent not a Trinidadian which took away from the line delivery in some instances.

Good story, interesting. However, I was so distracted by the diluted Jamaican accent being portrayed as a Trini accent that I sometimes struggled to focus on the storyline.

Loved this book. In the morning on the way in to work I dallied so I could hear more and couldn't wait to get to my car in the evening so I could get back to it. So we'll written, so evocative of the country and the culture. Shock, sadness and hurt like these were real lives. Highly recommend.

Gripped

Very gripping plot and good characters great descriptions of Trinidad life and conflicts within society as played out in lives of one IndoTinidadian family. Hated that it was not read in Trinidad accent and that many words given wrong pronunciation not consistent with Trinidadian dialect. Surely that should have been checked by a Trinidadian!!

I loved this book, as I grew up in Trinidad, but unfortunately the narrators accent was not good and he mispronounced several words, including many place names.
