About this listen
I’m straight. So, when a gay guy on the train asked me out on a date, why the hell did I say yes? And why am I excited about seeing him again?
Okay, let’s start again....
I thought I was straight for all of my 26 years. I dated women. I slept with women. And yeah, occasionally I’d wondered what it would be like to experiment with a guy. We’ve all done it, right? A couple of times, at least? Only, I never did more than wonder.
But after one conversation with him...
I still don’t know why I said yes. It wasn’t as if he was flirting with me - well, not much. All we did was talk. And then, he asked me out.
Okay, so it would be a new experience. I can roll with that. But what if he wants to sleep with me? How about that?
I’m nervous. I’m confused. And as for the whole "I’m straight" thing?
Yeah. I’m rethinking that. Big time.
And I can’t wait for Saturday till I see him again.

Audio: This is my first time listening to a Seb Yarrick narration, I believe, and I must say - job well done, sir! Great pacing, character portrayal & differentiation, and wonderful storytelling and emotion. I will definitely be listening to more by this narrator.

I absolutely adored Lee and Daniel. I loved how Lee takes his newly-discovered bisexuality in stride, and with a great dose of bravery, without ever hiding it, instead owning it with pride. And I loved how Daniel never pressures him to go further than he’s comfortable with, but without babying him, but always checking for Lee’s well-being.
I love K.C. Well’s writing, I always read more “intense” and a bit angsty books, but this lighter one is incredibly well-written and keeps you hooked and leaves you smiling.
Meet cute and a sweet romance.

I bought and read the book as soon as KC dropped it. so I knew i already loved them. but there's just something extra when you have the story poured into your ears.
the boys are adorable. Its so sweet with ALL the feels, but it has an air of realism too. like this could be a retelling of how my friends met sort of thing, only more eloquent than any of my friends could be.
Seb is a fantastic narrator and makes his job seem effortless. its actually refreshing to hear a brittish voice narrate a brittish set book. there are some narrators who are good, but just not a native brit.
only one niggle that nipped some was that Niall was mispronounced. I got over that pretty fast though. Easy mistake to make but not such an easy fix i imagine.
if you want a love story with all the feels and an air of realism, this, this is perfection.
So much CUTE!

So on to the actual story.
I love K.C. Wells. From her dark BDSM books to her lighter and fluffier books, she always delivers just what I need at the right time. Gay on a Train has a simple premise – two men meet, one asks the other out, he says ‘yes’ and they’re off on a date. Straightforward. Uncomplicated. Yet so much deeper.
The entire story is told from Lee’s point of view. Lee is straight. Hasn’t had great success with long-term relationships with women, but he’s done okay. He broke up with his last girlfriend because he couldn’t see himself with her forever. He works as a technical assistant at a call center with a horrible boss and customers who are dumb as…well, yeah, I’ve been one of those idiots calling asking for help only to discover I didn’t have the cable plugged in. Lee deals with these calls all day long and his life is dreary. He lives with his mates because London is so expensive, but he yearns for privacy. Doesn’t really want to hear when his roommate - who doesn’t believe in closing the door - is wanking off.
Then one day he meets Daniel. Daniel whose cellphone battery is about to die. Conveniently Lee has one of those quick chargers. So they sit on the train together and thus begins a friendship. Things change when Daniel asks Lee out. Lee is shocked because he’s straight, right? I mean, sure he’s watched het porn and been more interested in the guy, but that doesn’t make him gay, right? Yet something about Daniel pulls him in and he accepts the date. Because they’re not going to do anything, right?
Gay For You stories can be difficult because it’s not always believable some strongly heterosexual guy suddenly becomes willing to be with a man. In this story, though, it worked. Daniel called to Lee in an unexpected way and their connection was real. Was solid. And eventually they move from petting and mutual masturbation to lovemaking. I have to say, I had to look up bumper cars on the internet. Huh. Oh well, any book where I learn something new is a good book, as far as I’m concerned.
I really enjoyed this story. It was fun, it was flirty, it was the perfect book during an angsty period in my life. So well done Ms. Wells and Mr. Yarrick. I hope you will work together again soon.
