About this listen

Since the earliest days of the Great Crusade, Sanguinius - angelic primarch of the IXth Legion - was ever among the closest and most loyal of Horus' brothers. But the Blood Angels have long kept their true nature hidden from the rest of the Imperium, and when the Warmaster hints that the key to their salvation may lie in the ruins of a conquered world, the sons of Sanguinius race to claim it.

Now, as the revelation of their betrayal dawns and the traitors' hand is revealed, the Blood Angels must face all the warp-spawned armies of Chaos, as well their own personal daemons, upon the blasted plains of Signus Prime....

Brilliant

A well written and excellently read book proving to be just as good as the rest of the extensive series this far, very well done.

the heresy deepens

perfect continuation of the story so far giving light to the betrayal of the closest of brothers and the darkest of means employed to lay him low.

slow burn

At first I found difficulty paying attention with the Novell's slow start but it suddenly picks up later on and finishes well (no spoilers!)

Some interesting bits and pieces....

....but not the best story of the heresy so far. Fleshes out a bit of detail on the Blood Angels defect and shows how Horus knows of it. It's an interesting hook to get the real story going, but compared to the intricate plan of attack on the Ultramarines it just feels like this was a little more slap-dash. Which makes less sense because seemingly based on the text the Blood Angels and their Primarch are considered a great threat to the success of Horus. Performance and production as always was excellent, but only two stars for the story.

The Angel has vengeance

Great story, one of the strongest in the series
gives a lot of flavour to the story of Sanguinius and his Angels.
does drag on about half way through but makes up for it with excellent climax

One of the better HH stories

Only picked this up years after release. I think it’s one of my favourites as it fleshes out the BAs whilst still having a good amount of action and surprises. Some of the other books i think drag out what should be a shorter story, this one was long but a lot happens.

Learn more about Sanguinius and the Blood Angels

Good plot, helps explain what occurred with the Blood Angels and Sanguinius during the Heresy, and helps to explain the enmity between Horus and Sanguinius.
