About this listen

The Thirteenth Paladin and his companions are finally reunited with each other and have found a worthy ally in the Eternal Empress—another Paladin who will take part in the war against the Adversary. But the effects of Ahren's journey through the empire have left their mark on him. I am now (book 8) officially addicted to the story and I normally listen to one and then have a change and come back for the next in the series - I am immediately starting the next as I cannot wait to find out more of the story - a fantastic audio series !

the book follows on from the previous titles really well. whilst there isnt as much fighting as I would have thought there are some pretty intense scenes.
as the title suggests at the end the is a revelation I wasn't expecting. enjoy.

Compelling story line, with appealing characters. Find the love parts sickly and somewhat false, (eg describing Kara as ‘beloved’ etc.) Otherwise the rest is very good.

Once again, this already lengthy volume was just too short and I can't wait until the next installment.
For a fantasy adventure, Ahren and his companions have realistic personalities and all too believable background stories that make the listener forget that they are inventions of a brilliant mind.
