About this listen
Build. Evolve. Conquer. Welcome to the civil war....
Roark von Graf - former noble and hedge mage, current mid-level mob in a MMORPG - has his sights set on taking down the tyrannical dungeon lord. But the reigning troll despot is nearly as devious as Roark, and his followers are at a much higher level.
With forever-death on the line, civil war breaks out in the Citadel, pitting Roark’s new regime against Azibek’s horde of loyalists. To survive, Roark will have to outfox the dungeon lord, forge new, dirtier weapons and shady alliances, and above all, evolve....
But while the trolls are entrenched in their civil war, an outside threat is growing. Eyes from the IRL world are beginning to turn toward the Citadel. There’s something strange about this Roark, and they intend to find out what.
From James A. Hunter, author of the litRPG epic Viridian Gate Online, and eden Hudson, author of the Legend of the Treesinger and the Jubal Van Zandt series, comes an exciting new litRPG dungeon-core adventure you won’t want to pause!

I think 5 starts should be reserved for those books that dominate all before them.
This one is very good and I recommend to all those that started the series.
The only thing I would say here is that if you imagine 10 hours of reading as a paperback; it's probably a book a you can put in your back pocket. 15+, well then you're starting to talk about something meaty. You know, value for money etc... So here you get what is expected for 11 hours. It's a start but nowhere near something that is gonna last a week in the sun on holiday...
it was made clear in the first book where we're headed and this book doesn't disappoint.
The only thing I would say is that levels seem to be ghostly; in that all of sudden we are are level 20+ when I think the author could have played on each level as a real celebration. Not a big deal however.
And I do wonder... if it wasn't Nick Podehl, would this book have been so amazing? Maybe....
The MC and friends have been setup so beautifully with their interactions and wants and needs, that you genuinely feel each situation each are exposed to. This is surely a sign of a very good author who knows how to weave his readers into something very entertaining.
The big fights are spread out nicely with entertaining moments in between that span the emotion scale from funny to sad, heroic to treacherous.
A good job well done.
As expected - just great.

if the narrator can pronounce 'rifled' as in rifle-d instead of riff-led that would do my heart good.

Now that the characters have become familiar i find myself enjoying the skills of Podehl a lot more now which helps a lot. I especially like Kaz and Griff as they are so appropriate for how i imagine them to be.
Overview is 5 stars all along and a tense wait for the next chapter to arrive in all too much anticipation.
Book 2 = Double the Enjoyment
