We typically view language learning as a grueling process, associated with classrooms, textbooks, and individual drills, but I have a proposition that a humanized-rational approach can lead to mastery as well: Instead of learning verb conjugations by heart or showing through us cards, maybe you should just dive into a wide range of colorful networks that make movies, music, and media true. It would be like learning French by way of singing along to Edith Piaf, brushing up on your Spanish by keeping up with a telenovela’s plot twists and turns, or picking up Japanese through the lyrical poetry of your favorite anime opening. This is what it means to learn languages outside of the textbook, and it doesn’t just work; it's an enjoyable and culturally elevating experience. They teach you to study grammar rules and vocabulary lists, focused exercises, etc., and although this has its advantages, the traditional way of learning is often rigid and disconnected from the natural way of using the language in our real-life situations.
