About this listen

I used to be a good girl.

That is until I woke up in Vegas married to a former hockey player who also happens to be my best friend’s ex.

Cole Hebert and I are opposites. I’m the new town doctor, a rule follower, and five-five on a good day. He’s the six-seven bad boy currently doing court-ordered community service.

I’m struggling to earn the respect of the people in our hometown, and he’s doing some soul searching after an injury ended his hockey career. We’ve already drunkenly said I do, so we agree to a marriage of convenience.

Forced to live together, we slowly become friends. I see a side of Cole I never knew existed. He coaches kids’ hockey, knits for the entire town, and loves snuggling while watching Jeopardy.

Soon, we’re growing closer, and the way the hockey-playing lumberjack worships my plus-size body and obsessively calls me his wifey has me embracing my inner bad girl and tearing down all my carefully constructed walls.

Our feelings eventually burn as bright as our passion, but the small town we both love is harboring dark secrets. After a shocking discovery, we learn there are those who want us silenced forever, and we’re forced to risk it all to protect our happily ever after.

Author’s Note: Axe-Identally Married is a marriage of convenience romance featuring a sassy plus-size doctor and a cinnamon roll hockey player with a heart of gold. If you enjoy opposites attract, flirty banter, possessive heroes, wood-chopping, meddling moose, and small-town hijinks, you will not be disappointed.

Welcome to Lovewell, Maine, where the moose outnumber the people and you can’t swing an axe without hitting a hot, grumpy lumberjack. The books of the Maine Lumberjacks Series are ALL standalones but are most fun when listened to in order!

That gorgeous cover and those irresistible tropes totally drew me in. And as someone who's already devoured the first two books in this series, this one did not disappoint! Daphne Elliot truly outdid herself with this perfect blend of romantic comedy, unexpected "marriage of convenience," and all the charming small-town vibes. It’s pure delight from start to finish.

This story stars Willa Savard, the new doctor, and Cole Hebert, the reformed hockey bad boy. They wake up married in Vegas (yes, really!) and decide on a marriage of convenience. Cole is the ultimate "cinnamon roll" hero who adores Willa, and their chemistry is explosive! The banter is incredibly witty, and their journey from accidental spouses to head-over-heels in love is just beautiful.

🎧 Stephen Dexter and Ava Lucas as narrators? Chef's kiss! They brought Willa and Cole to life perfectly. Their duet narration made this audiobook an absolute joy. 🤩

If you're looking for a hilarious, sweet, and surprisingly suspenseful romance, this is it! And if you haven't read the others in the Maine Lumberjacks series yet, trust me, you'll want to after this one!

Listened to all 3 books over a couple of days and now have the other 2 actual books on order. Such fun and easy listening. I particularly liked that the male/female narrators did their own voices instead of changing tones etc. Really enjoyable.

Loved this series!!

🎧 As with most small town series I have read, I am invested with the people and what are going through. Adding the mystery of the investigation that is ongoing, it adds to my interest. Come to think of it, I have to get the Lovewell Lumberjacks series as well, because I have to know how the other couples came about.

🎧 I have only listened to one book by Ms. Lucas before and this is my bad. Because she is so talented. I liked not only her take on the main character, there are a lot of women in this and she manages to distinguish them through her performance.

🎧 I love Stephen Dexter's work. It's like a first good impression. I adore the first character I listen to from him, and he is so talented that I don't find that character in the rest of the work that I have listened to but are equally pleasing. As with this book. So many men, old, young, he has it. Also, this is the second book that my ears blushed a bit because I press play at the beginning of the book, waiting for the female voice, and he talks and I need to catch my breath.

🎧 Narration bliss the both of them.

The flannel is always a winner.

this book felt like a warm hug with just the right amount plot to romance ratio and daphne has really become such a fave of mine. cole and willa were such a treat to read about because there was so much depth to their stories and their romance. they had this soft supportive connection as they navigated their won journeys and finding love in each other. i really enjoyed cole and he was such a misunderstood character but he was so well matched willa. willa was this quietly strong girl but had real life girl struggles. the cast of side characters were completely amazing and just added so much light and fun to the story but i just wanted more of them.

thank you to home cooked books and daphne elliot for the early audio copy. the audiobook was so good, ava lucas and stephen dexter were so good and i just enjoyed how well they embodied their characters. naturally any time it is duet narration it just even better.

Easily my fav of the series! Cole Hebert has my heart! 😍💕 For me, the redemption story of the decade for sure!

Axe-identally Married is book 3 in the series, and it follows Cole, the former hockey bad boy, and Willa, the self-proclaimed good girl. Cole is one of the Hebert brothers that we follow in the series and we first met him in book 1. He is the ex-boyfriend of Lila from book 1, and Willa is Lila’s best friend. You can see how messy this is. 🤭 Anyways, Willa and Cole end up in vegas celebrating Lila and Owen’s engagement. They’re both dealing with some personal stuff, and so they decide to spend some time together having fun and cheering each other up. Things get complicated when they wake up the next morning having apparently accidentally gotten married. But, they decide to stay married to keep up appearances for both of their families. Moving in together, they slowly really get to know each, building a strong friendship foundation that slowly leads to them falling for one another. It was soo beautiful and cute to read about and to experience! 😊

Woow, this book! Cole Hebert… the man that you are! Honestly, before reading/listening to this book, I wasn’t sure about Cole’s redemption arc. Daphne Elliot pulled it off nicely though! I could really see the journey that he took, and how much he changed throughout the story. I mean, get you a giant hockey player who cooks and knits! 😋🥰 He falls so hard for Willa and takes care of her! I also loved Willa; she was strong and intelligent in her career, whilst also being real and vulnerable about her insecurities. Plus, I also loved the vulnerability they both showed towards each other.

The way this story was told and all the details woven was excellent. It had everything; romance, cute moments, spice, with a little bit of mystery and suspense. What’s not to love?

The narration was also amazing! Narrated in duet by Stephen Dexter and Ava Lucas. They embodied the personalities and emotions of Cole and Willa perfectly! This was such a joy to listen to! Highly recommend!

Keep me going to Maine please! This family is one I want to hang out with. Yes, they have issues, but when push comes to shove, they show up. This book features Cole, the youngest, the hockey player, and pretty much the outcast. He has had his issues, but there is a jealousy the others have for him regarding their father that they just can't get past. Now Cole is in Vegas, meets Willa, both dealing with their own issues, flirting, drinking and the next thing you know, what happens in Vegas doesn't stay in Vegas. Deciding to remain married for six months as both work through things, and find living together is comfortable. Until it isn't. Their comfortable friendship begins to turn to real feelings. What will they do at the end of the six months? There is a lot that goes on in this one. Not only do we have a romance, but it's a bit taboo and I will leave it there. Plus a small thread of action near the end leads to a whole new situation. I really enjoyed this, it was fun, flirty and I loved that someone finally saw Cole for the man he is and the man he can be.

Stephen Dexter is so good as Cole. He is broody to start, that angry man just trying to deal day to day and as Willa becomes his person, his whole demeanor changes with the small changes Dexter slowly makes. Matched with Ava Lucas(she is a favorite of mine), Willa comes in, and she holds no punches. From the start she is loyal, and comes to bat for Cole. She is feisty and vulnerable and is played perfectly with the nuances in Lucas's voice. This is a fabulous team and I loved their performance!

Gotta love Cole!!!

Willa is struggling to adapt to a life she wasn't expecting to come about so quickly. With the incredibly high demands of her job it's easy to forget to take care of herself. Cole just can't seem to get his life in order and trying to fix his relationship with his brothers feels like 2 steps forward and 1 step back. After a drunken mistake with his ex's best friend in Vegas, Cole is determined to prove that he can keep it together and this partnership could be successful for both of them.

I loved the duet narration for this book. Stephen's performance brings a lot of charm to this former hockey star and shows us how sweet and surprisingly funny Cole can be. Ava is great as Willa, the serious and smart woman who is incredibly confident in her professional life, but much less so when it comes to herself as a person. Their narrations flow so well together in both sound and energy, and the whole book is just smooth and fun.

My favourite couple <3
