About this listen

A SWORD . . .

In the impoverished outer town of a kingdom where fae outrank humans, Faythe, an orphan with a talent for swordplay, knows the importance of keeping her head down around the fae patrol. She and best friend Jakon long for a better life, and her desire to swing her sword in combat may bring the purpose and coin she's yearned for.

A DREAM . . .

When she draws the attention of royal guard Nik, she soon learns that her mortal nature isn't the only reason to remain out of sight. Nik is a Nightwalker, a silent assassin of the mind with the power to enter others' dreams, and whether she trusts him or not, he's about to awaken abilities in Faythe that shouldn't exist in a human. Nightmarish abilities. Deadly abilities. Abilities that will teach Faythe blood really does run thicker than water . . . and if she doesn't trust in higher powers soon, blood will run indeed.

AN HEIR . . .

For this is no battle Faythe can fight with steel. Within the city walls, suspicions are arising, and here in the outer town she has deeper bonds to protect. It seems everyone will die with a dark secret to tell, but what if one unlikely human girl was born harboring the darkest secret of all . . . ?

narrator

Elizabeth Evans is exceptional. Just listened to the samples for the next 2 books & the narrator is terrible. I'll wait for a rerecord. Sorry

Throne of Glass inspired, or copy?

Is no one else picking up on the embarrassing likeness to Throne of Glass? The book and story in itself is fun, and i liked it- but i couldn’t shake the feeling of having read it before…

If you like Throne of Glass

As my title says, if you likes Throne of Glass or any thing S.J Mass you will love An heir comes to rise!
I was skeptical going into the book, but quickly fell in love with the characters. I loved the premise of the night walkers and how that magic works.
It has fantastic range of character types, funny, their banter is amazing not to mention the chemistry between characters.
As always Elizabeth Evans is FANTASTIC and can do absolutely no wrong.
1000% recommend!

I liked it

I liked it, I didn’t LOVE it like some other books have captured me but it was interesting, enjoyable and has a good set of characters. It was a little predictable and Faythe can be a little naive, but I can tell it’s a set up for a great book series that I look forward to reading! It’s a perfect ‘book 1’. Definitely recommend if you like SJM!

Beautiful story

I came for Elizabeth Evans but stayed for the story. I listened to this in a day, I couldn’t stop. I loved every aspect of this. Competent FMC, helpful and kind MMC, respectful friendship between genders etc. what’s not to love?!. Pls do not hesitate to listen to this. It’s worth your time.

I found this very dry and boring…

Cover illustration is good, narrator is good, the story…boring.

This wasn’t doing it for me, got 4 hrs in and just couldn’t finish…it was a chore to get that far to be honest.

I just didn’t care about any of the characters or the supposed high stakes…it just didn’t translate for me. I felt bored and like I was waiting for the story to start. The main character and the storyline has a very been there, heard this all before (or rather the better version) feel to it. The relationships induced many an eye rolling, the cliche best male friend wanting the main character, the mysterious bad boy…urgh.

Maybe it get’s better after the 4hr mark, I’ll never know…another wasted credit.
