About this listen

PERFORMED BY RICHARD ARMITAGE, AMNESIA IS THE NEW BOOK FROM THE MULTI-MILLION BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF HOLY ISLAND AND IMPOSTOR.

Some things, you can never forget…

After a nationwide manhunt for notorious felon Carl Deere left two women hospitalised in a critical condition, clinical psychiatrist and criminal profiler Doctor Alexander Gregory is left heartbroken. Both are special to him: one is his new friend, Detective Chief Inspector Ava Hope, and the other is the woman he loves, Doctor Naomi Palmer. However, there’s something he doesn’t know…

One of them is a killer.

Enlisted by the Metropolitan Police, Doctor Gregory must embark on a journey into the past—theirs, as well as his own. In doing so, he comes to understand that justice is seldom black and white, and even good people can commit murder…

Murder and mystery are peppered with dark humour in this fast-paced psychological thriller, set amidst the iconic streets of London.

Twists and turns everywhere

I have enjoyed all of the Alexander Gregory books - although I do think the storyline is beginning to get a bit drawn out now - but still more than worthy of a listen

Main story padded out

This was the follow up to Panic which ended with a tremendous cliffhanger. Amnesia picks up on the story of why characters from Panic were acting the way they were. Then inserted into this, was a separate story that Gregory got involved in which I thought would have some link to the main story - I’ll leave that there. I felt the book which was fairly short anyway, had a lot of padding. However the redeeming factor of this book was of course Richard Armitage’s performance, with his excellent characterisations drawing on various voices and accents (he’s one of the few male narrators to give female characters a proper voice) so in sum - mediocre story but fab narration.
