About this listen

While a moon hurtles toward certain destruction, taking with it a Weyland-Yutani bioweapons lab, talks on a nearby colony could lead to all-out war among the colonies.

Hygeia, an outer rim colony, is doomed as the moon on which it was built hurtles toward an inevitable collision with the dead planet Hephaestus. When a distress signal arrives from a Weyland-Yutani biowarfare outpost near the colony, a desperate plan is launched to evacuate the trapped scientists and colonists. Their destination: LV-846, a key United Americas colony where high-level talks are scheduled to address the galaxy-wide hostilities between the colonies. Once there, the evacuees, including a contingent of Colonial Marines, discover a plot that could plunge the colonies into all-out war. Their only hope may be an alliance with the deadliest ally imaginable.

Loved it.

I listened to Vasquez earlier this week and it was terrible. This on the other hand was awesome.

It’s … ok

As a huge aliens fan I thought I’d give this a go. Some reviews says it’s poor and others good. I would say it was a little sedentary and the story didn’t really do much for me. Some good ideas but again just a blast and save routine.

More of the Same

Seems that all the new Alien novels coming out are just variations on the same theme.

1) Evil corporation (usually WeyYu) performs evil experiments on xenomorphs.
2) Xenomorphs break out and give the evil corporate types their comeuppance.
3) Plucky band of survivors makes it out.

This one doesn't appear to be any different.

Enjoyable aliens story

Enjoyable story for fans of aliens with a plethora of likable characters, marines, unscrupulous scientists and plenty of xenomorph action.

Starts off well written with spooky setting reminiscent of aliens the movie and a build up of tension. Slightly let down by repetitive prose especially towards the end, and some questionable decisions by characters but still enjoyable.

I found this one more to my taste than Into Charbydis for example, as it has a lot less of irrelevant modern politics and a lot more xenomorph action.

Can’t listen to the end

Starts off alright, gets interesting and then flops massively at the end resolution by having the characters do completely irrational and stupid things that shatter any illusion they are real people. Shame

Happy enough.

no the best but certainly not the worst. its got what you need, marines looking for a fight. scientists and a global conglomerate that should know better by now and xenomorphs hell bent on killing. it's even pulled from the new films and references the builders and they're toxic creations. I'm not mad I got this.

Greatest Alien Novel

Been listening through all the canon line of Alien novels since Cold Forge, loved so many of them, and I have to say Mary Sangiovanni absolutely takes the cake. Her tone, the way she depicts the Aliens and their behaviour, grounded likeable characters and expanding on the lore in interesting but believable ways. Please can we have more Alien content from her! also massive shoutout for Sheromi Arserio's narration, totally topnotch

It's Ok

As alien books go this is just avarage and boring, not what you want from the horror series, these last few books in the series have lost their bite.
