Impressively Superb Story, Characters & Listen🎧

This is another amazing novel set in Eva Winners’ equally amazing “Belle & Mobsters” series and I have every book in the series, I would like to the series keeps getting better and better but it would not be fair to the earlier books which deserve just as much praise. I highly recommend enjoying the books in order listed, you get the most of the world building and the overall series arc that way, that said, you could probably get away with enjoying this one on its own, just know that characters from earlier books make appearances and knowing their backstories is not only beneficial but adds more depth. I have been looking forward to Alexei’s story and wow, what a story it is, it was gut-wrenching to hear what he went thru, from his childhood until he could get free from the abuser who held him captive, Ivan Petrov. He was never really free of Ivan, but he teamed up with others who were on the same mission to take down the traffickers and abusers. Ivan has eluded them and the FBI, but he has a plan which includes the FBI, one agent in particular, Aurora Ashford, who may not remember him and when she does, she will definitely hate him. Aurora joined the FBI and has worked in profiling, but she finally gets to work out in the field, on a case that is close to her heart, to track down the depraved man who has been abducting children, and the one responsible for taking her brother when she was a young girl, a memory that haunts her. It did not thrill her to be assigned to work alongside a civilian, not any civilian but a connected one, but her need to capture Ivan is more important. Her undercover assignment starts with a visit to an underground club, and a steamy encounter with Alexei, who is running the show and about to get them into the lion’s den. I loved how everything played out in this book. The writing, the plotting and the world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. These two characters are broken in their own ways and deal with demons from their past, though Alexei’s scars are inside and out. There is never a dull moment in this book and once you start the book, it is hard to put down because you need to know what happens next. This enthralling story has the perfect balance of drama, angst, action, twists and turns, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance. Eva Winners, thank you for another amazing and mind-blowing story and emotional rollercoaster ride. 

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Maeve York and Tor Thom did an amazing job bringing these characters and did so with a complete understanding of who they were portraying, giving each a voice that fit that character’s persona and were believable in every role they played, accents and all. Their voices and performances complimented each other’s, and they set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance, and had you feeling every single one. These entertaining storytellers are versatile voice artists and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another amazing listen.

Fantastic romantic suspense!

What a great book! I have enjoyed each book in this series, but there is something about this particular story that touched my heart. Alexei has had the worst childhood imaginable, and now he is teaming up with FBI agent, Aurora to get those that hurt him. She too is on a mission, and working with Alexei may not be her first choice, she knows it's a means to an end. Until they begin working together. This dark, dangerous man and determined woman have a sizzling chemistry that not only has them in action on the job! But secrets are kept, and memories coming back. Where will it lead these two? I loved this. Broken characters, each trying to redeem themselves, Eva Winners had my heart breaking. She has a few twists and turns that keep the suspense running high and exciting and the love growing. I loved this darker story, it's just what I love to listen to.

Maeve York and Tor Thom are fantastic together as they bring this romantic suspense to life. York tunes into Aurora, being the strong FBI agent and the desperate sister. I loved her ability to bring all the emotions to Aurora, as her many personality facets are engaged. Thom breaks out his Russian accent and takes apart the many layers that is Alexei. This broken character has a lot going on, and each peel reveals a different inflection. Loved these two together and enjoyed this listen.

His accents ruined a good book .

This is the first one I’ve returned in this series. His Russian and Italian -American accents were so bad they were a distraction. Will read the book instead.

So good

I’ve loved this series so far but Alexei has stolen my heart the things he went through at the hands of evil people was heartbreaking . Even when he had spent the last 5 years helping saving others from similar situations he still thought he was t worthy of Aurora love ,I was so happy when she realised her feelings for him.

Alexei is definitely one of my faves! This story was intense and filled with lots of things happening but I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next!

Definitely recommend this one!

Fabulous!

I'm loving the dual narration for this series. So far they are all flawlessly executed and I've listen well into the early hours on my headphones. I will definitely continue with the series.

So good

These books get better and better. I love these characters and the world they are set in. With a gripping, emotional storyline it’s great. A brilliant performance from both narrators.

Intense

Everything about this story was intense. The backstory, the action, the chemistry, the spice, even the characters.

Alexei has always intrigued me and I loved getting to know him better.
