About this listen

What happens in the wake of Failure Mode?

The Aftermath of a stunning victory—especially an unexpected, complete, and final victory—should be high-fives all around, listening to politicians give boring congratulatory speeches, and a well-deserved rest for the Merry Band of Pirates. Yes, the galaxy is still a freakin' mess, but that is nothing new, and for a change, that can be someone else's problem.

Until, you know, something really bad happens, and only the Pirates can deal with the problem... Or not.

Funny and interesting but annoying at the end.

I loved all 16 books but, 16 is enough! Instead of being excited at another installment I am annoyed.
I WILL NOT buy another book in this series, I am not a cash cow and resent the fact that I'm being treated as a 'Soap' viewer who is hooked on the daily goings on of a set of characters.
Such a shame to dangle a pathetic carrot at the end of such a good series of books...

Love the character developments

Thought this series had run out of steam, and nearly didnt buy this. So glad I decided to. Seeing the characters having matured a little over the intervening time is a joy - but they’ve not lost their chaos-attracting skills. I prefer more of the character interactions we see here, rather than constant runnin ‘n jumpin’ ‘n shootin’. If you’ve made it this far into the series then you probably, like me, just enjoy hanging out with Jo-seph, Skippy & RC Bray. There’s a satisfying amount of that. Maybe I’ve just been in the mood to listen, but I think this has become one of my favourite books of the series. I’m so happy that it’s been set up for another one.

Spectacular comeback of the series

I was slightly worried when Craig announced that he’ll be rebooting the series, but clearly he is a never-ending well of ideas. The book is worth it’s weight in skipcoin.

A great one

Well worth the listen. Could it be better paced, yes, does that mean I didn't enjoy it, nope. It was a great listen which was thoroughly enjoyed.

I did feel bray struggling with character differentiation at points, which is a first for him I'll say. Hopefully he's not overworking himself!

Skippy & R.C. Bray.... best, most engaging combination ever.

Best military/political sci-fi out there.... and funny as hell. The most engaging saga you can find in my opinion. can't wait for the next book.

Outstanding as usual

Some may say there is nothing new in this latest edition. I would say that isn’t the motivator to continue with this masterful series. The interaction between characters has got to the stage whereby so many of the now cliched references and characters are like old friends. I deliberately rationed my listening to this latest edition as I could have finished it in one or two listens. Long may the merry band of pirates and skippy continue to spread their ‘awesomeness’ across the galaxy.
