About this listen

A Brief History of Everything is an altogether friendly and accessible account of men and women's place in a universe of sex, soul, and spirit, written by author Ken Wilber.

Wilber examines the course of evolution as the unfolding manifestation of Spirit, from matter to life to mind, including the higher stages of spiritual development where Spirit becomes conscious of itself. In each of these domains, there are recurring patterns, and by looking closely at them, we can learn much about the predicament of our world - and the direction we must take if "global transformation" is to become a reality.

Wilber offers a series of striking and original views on many topics of current interest and controversy, including the gender wars, modern liberation movements, multiculturalism, ecology, and environmental ethics, and the conflict between this-worldly and otherworldly approaches to spirituality. The result is an extraordinary and exhilarating ride through the Kosmos in the company of one of the great thinkers of our time.

A really helpful book, for personal development and building intimacy in relationship with ourselves (our parts) and others (and their parts).

Fantastic book

This is a worthwhile listen for anybody. I understand criticisms can be made; for me, there seems to be a persuasive "buy-in" being sought in the writing - "I'm telling you this, so surely you can also listen to this". However, I remained glued to this until the end because it's one of the New Age concepts that links so well with other visionary authors/thinkers. I concur with other critics that can't find substance for all of the ideas presented by Wilber, but for me, that only points out that he's better at thinking than he is at articulating. 9 months after listening, this audiobook still left an impression on me.

A valuable contribution

The book is very well narrated, in the form of questions and answers, which really helps its flow.
Thoroughly worthwhile reading, some great historical and cultural overview with creative & provocative links to how it affects our modern state of living, thinking and being. The ideas are innovative, interesting and thought provoking. While it certainly makes for a high quality worthwhile read the language is, at times, quite complex, rather different and using a lot of terminology, which occasionally makes it hard to follow. Still highly recommended for anyone interested in psychotherapy and philosophy or physics and biology alike.

A powerful perspective gained toward what Nietzche would call our next evolutionary step; the Superhuman. The evolution of the mind.

Thank you Ken!

A glimpse into the power of the mind.

Dazzling

I experienced this book as relying heavily on using overly complicated language. It was difficult to understand and follow. After reading hundreds of books on self development, spirituality and philosophy, this book was for me, very disappointing. English is my first language, but unfortunately my intelligence was insufficient. I spent most of the book confused. To be honest, I have no idea if it was good or not.
