Hailing from the northwest of England, Yrsa Daley-Ward is a poet, writer and speaker of mixed Jamaican and Nigerian heritage. She is the author of The Catch, The How, bone, and The Terrible her autobiographical novel, for which she won the PEN Ackerley Prize. She is most known for her debut book, Bone, Penguin Books, as well as for her live poetry performances. Yrsa fuses poetry with theatre, music, and storytelling and has been writing for as long as she can remember. Yrsa also co-wrote Black Is King, Beyoncé's musical film and visual album. She is the creator of the utter™, a poetic neuroscience™ movement and brain health focused on how writing heals, strengthens the brain, and restores presence in the digital age. Based in Los Angeles, she leads a bestselling Substack newsletter, the utter, reaching tens of thousands of readers weekly with lyrical insights on mental health, creativity, and consciousness.
