I've been a writer and speaker full-time since 1986, with 20 books translated into 30 languages and over 1.5 million copies of my books in print in English. My latest book is ''The Power of Neurodiversity: Unleashing the Advantages of Your Neurodivergent Brain (Completely Revised and Updated Second Edition)'' published by Balance/Hachette. I've written for Family Circle, Ladies Home Journal, and the AMA Journal of Ethics, been on The Today Show and CBS This Morning, was featured in Good Housekeeping, USA Today, and the New York Times. I'm 74 years old, divorced (not my idea), and living with my tiny dog Daisy in a pink Victorian-style home on a hill in Sonoma County, California. I like to improvise on the piano, read great literature (right now I'm re-reading Marcel Proust's Remembrance of Things Past), watch old movies (my favorites are The Big Sleep (1946 version) and Fletch with Chevy Chase, and do mindfulness meditation. I'm neurodivergent myself, having a mood disorder (unipolar depression) for which I take medications and also exercise and meditate everyday, and so far so good, it's been in remission for the past sixteen years. I wrote my first novel two years ago (Childless) but had difficulty getting anyone to represent it and so I published it on Amazon. I grew up in Fargo, North Dakota, dropped out of Carleton, finished at U. Mass, Amherst, and was a special education teacher for several years. I'm grateful for every day and feel blessed that I've been able to do the work that I do.
