Shenghua Luan is professor and principal investigator of the Risk and Uncertainty Management (RAUM) lab at the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Before joining the CAS, he held positions at the Singapore Management University in Singapore, the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Germany, and Tsinghua University in China. In his research, Shenghua tries to understand how people make decisions and how to use smart designs to improve human decisions, especially in the era of information overloading. Findings of his research has been published in top academic journals in psychology, management, and medicine. Shenghua also teaches undergraduate and graduate classes in judgment and decision making, cognitive psychology, and social sciences. Upon the publication of his first book “Smart Management: How Simple Heuristics Help Leaders Make Good Decisions in an Uncertain World,” Shenghua plans to continue writing books for both the academic and the general audiences in both English and Chinese.
