Laura Kathleen Mesa is an author and artist. Kate, as her friends call her, obtained a Sociology degree with a minor in Criminal Justice from California State University-Chico in 2020 and a Behavioral Science associate degree from Moorpark College-Moorpark, CA in 2018, accomplishing a lifelong dream of higher education. In her life's journey of setting goals and reaching them, she has been encouraged numerous times to write books that inspire and help others. A recent widow, due to terminal cancer, she finally decided it was time. She has spent years helping those who, like her, have endured a troubled childhood or survived domestic violence. Currently, her focus has been to help widows walk through life after loss and inform people about the journey terminal cancer often looks like. This new book is a powerful introspection of her relationship with Grief. A long time ago, someone asked Kate what she wanted to be remembered for when she left the Earth, and she responded, "I want to be known as a humanitarian, someone who cares about people in her community and around the world." With those words spoken, she served as a Red Cross volunteer directly following the Hurricane Katrina disaster, took trips to Mexico, where she taught children how to swim, and journeyed to West Africa to bring medicine to prisons and orphanages. Kate's life story has been her greatest teacher. Her faith in God, Writing often, nature, and the arts have been her greatest physicians. "Why should all the books be written and recognized by the Today Show staff?" ;)
