Lara Fielding is a clinical psychologist with the aim of empowering young adults to promote their mental health resilience. Specializing in evidence based pragmatic mindfulness skills, Dr. Fielding guides her clients and students to identify what they truly care about, and teaches them the skills they need to manage the discomfort that comes up along the way. She is the author of Mastering Adulthood: Go Beyond Adulting to Become an Emotional Grown-up, a multi-media self-help book based on the mindfulness skills she teaches in her private practice in Los Angeles. The skills Dr. Fielding teaches are derived from both bottom up and top down lines of research. At Harvard and UCLA she studied the relationship between health behavior and the psycho-biological stress resilience. More recently she has studied and replicated research identifying the Common Elements of the evidence supported Mindfulness-Based treatments. From this study, she derived a set of therapist guidelines for evidence-based practice. These guidelines form the basis of the Summer Elective course she teaches as an Adjunct professor at Pepperdine Graduate School of Education and Psychology.
