About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

From USA Today bestselling author Rina Kent comes a STANDALONE grumpy sunshine college romance.

I made a terrible mistake.
Being a mafia princess, I knew my fate was already decided.
But I went ahead and longed for the wrong one.
Creighton King is bad news with a gorgeous exterior.
He’s silent, brooding, and obviously emotionally unavailable.
So I thought it was over.
Until he awakens a beast inside me.
My name is Annika Volkov, and I’m Creighton's worst enemy.
He won’t stop until he breaks me.
Or I break him.

I’d give it a 3.5 ⭐️ I feel the way God of Pain started off was really good it was the second half that brought the rating down for me.

Don’t get me wrong I liked Creighton and liked how Anni grew out of her family shadow and finally decided what was best for her but I just could not see how they could come back from what has happened and how their relationship could re blossom. Like from the bombshell reveal of Creightons childhood, to the shooting and then the kidnapping on an Island and what happened on the island. I fear it was just way too much…. But that’s just my thoughts.

I fear Rina Kent started off really strong with God of Malice and Killian that Creighton had to be even more amazing.

Also poor Cecily! She was only helping her friend and she didn’t know what was going to happen, I am a bit scared as to what happened between her and Jeremy which I guess I will soon find out in the next book.

It was good But God of Malice was Top Tier

I absolutely adore Annika she carried this story on her back. Could do without her going sacrificial lamb by the end but oh well it is a dark romance after all

Grumpy vs sunshine

Creighton is so underrated and does not get the love he deserves! Annika is kinda adorable, she’s the perfect sweet to his spice. I loved the added layer of the opposing families and having to pick between two parts of yourself. Seeing more of Eli’s relationship with Creigh, how he’s so protective of him and clearly loves him really helped to develop his character. The foreshadowing for Bran and Niko has me salivating and I CANNOT WAIT for their book. It was also sweet seeing the start of Jeremy’s and Cecily’s story, I just want to binge this whole series.

It would have been nice to see more of their personalities outside of each other (like Creigh’s fighting and Annika’s dancing/other passions) cos they felt a little two dimensional and lacked the depth that Glyn and Kill had. I also found the story dragged towards the end (the beach section didn’t do much for me). That being said, I was still fully hooked and listened to it constantly. It was still a great story, I just didn’t connect with the main couple as much as I did Glyn and Kill.

The narrators, what a cast! They did an incredible job bringing the story to life, with the right balance of angst and intensity. They make the characters emotions feel raw and real. If you love a story filled with tension, this one is a must-listen!

An Addictive Romance!
