About this listen

Penny Harrigan is a low-level associate in a law firm with no love life. So it comes as a shock when she’s invited to dinner by C. Linus Maxwell, a mega-billionaire. After dinner, he whisks Penny off to a hotel suite in Paris where Penny discovers that she is a test subject for the development of new sex toys. So effective are these devices that women lock themselves in their room and stop coming out...

Not sure how to rate this.

On the one hand, I really enjoyed this and zipped through the story - a sure sign it is going well. At times though, some of the things happening had me shaking my head. I'm no prude, but some of the occurrences seem to be titillation for its own sake and distracted to a point from the bigger, excellent political message which is delivered with Chuck's characteristic aplomb. Great listen, great warning and slight on our consumer culture, but too often succumbs to its pulpy side.

Lots of potential, lost its way

The book has great potential and written with vivid emotion and imagery
However quite a few holes in the plot with the antagonist and protagonist constantly switching roles and personalities inexplicably

I was hoping for a better twist (saw it coming a mile off)
But it was a good listen

Would say this belongs on a sci-fi shelf
Not a bad book by any means but hard to understand the driving emotions of the characters and place their relevance in Chucks storyline

Wouldn’t recommend to prude listeners.

Crazy Ride

The topic is bonkers. The idea is bonkers but it is carefully crafted into an original tale that keeps you guessing till the end.

Was it a comedy...? There were jokes

Is this a rallying cry or cautionary tale to self satisfying male gamers out there manipulated by the proliferation of sex sites and video games? A brief reference to Hemingways the Sun also rises and Ron Jeremy left me bemused. Is this a comedy, science fiction or erotica? I have no experience of the latter genre so have nothing to compare it to. Well done the narrator who made it through to the end without laughing or implying any tone of irony which is maybe what was required. A very odd read, complete rubbish.
