The Cold Winter

The Cold Winter is a timely story that addresses the effects of a grid-down cyber attack on the residents of a small village in Ohio. The added twist of a raging snow storm that pounds the region mercilessly creates "the cold winter". The Vesper family lives in a small village near Columbus and has prepared some, but not enough. Survival is their challenge, but they refuse to climb out of the aftermath by stepping on those in need.

The Cold Winter: Call to Arms continues where the first book ended, following Central Ohio families through a snowy blackout with ever worsening conditions. The injured main character Thom recovers slowly with the aid of pain medication but also learns the horribly negative side of his little blue pills. Village residents come together as a group to aid travelers in need, at the same time strengthening its borders from attackers.

The Grid is Down. A VIP upriver needs to be rescued. Modern Engines can’t be trusted. To win, the battle must turn unconventional.... And a little Historical. A modern minuteman militia is operating out of Steubenville Ohio with a VIP to deliver. Their Huey helicopter is grounded so travel is the old-fashioned way on the Ohio River. Then it gets even more old-fashioned. Another militia in Evansville Indiana has the World War 2 LST-325 in their command. Seven hundred miles of river is between them, but the historic battleship is pushing upstream to help.
