The colony on Haven-7 has gone rogue. The colonists have split into two factions: the Techborn and the Dusters. The Techborn have always ruled the planet. They control the remnants of the crashed starship that brought humanity to this new world. The Dusters… they eat Techborn dust. Now, the Techborn strength is waning. Their weapons are getting old, and radiation leaks from the aging reactors have created mutations. Some of these, like their brutish troops known as Tuskers, have proven useful—but others are abominations.

Acheron Colony was supposed to be humanity's greatest windfall. Using long-range sensors, the planet tested out as a super-Earth—but the reality is frightening. Instead of a green world bursting with life, the colonists find a dead rock covered in ash. Something has dismantled every organic molecule on Acheron—and no one knows how or why. When a mysterious signal that defies explanation begins to pulse from an alien ruin, the colonists panic. Something ancient was here long before them, and the signal, like a heartbeat, won't let them forget it.

Earth's XCU sends special forces operative Dane Tanner to the isolated swampy water world of Tamil. Tanner is tasked with a simple mission: prevent the colony's self-destruction. Tamil, shrouded in dense mists and sprawling underwater forests, harbors secrets deeper than its murky waters. A rogue faction of genetic scientists has defied ethical norms, transforming themselves into the Riptili—genetically modified human-amphibians better adapted to Tamil's harsh marine environment.
