Not-So-Famous Dog Tales

Buffy the Golden retriever asks Steve Barkley and his family to help her solve a strange mystery. Why is a young boy coming into town each night, stealing food from homes in the neighborhood and taking it to a lighthouse on an island in a nearby bay? Since she couldn’t find a way to enter the lighthouse, she knew she needed help with what felt like an impossible mission.

Sherlock the Border Collie asks Steve Barkley and his family to help him figure out who is stealing from his human, Dr. Chloe MacDonald, an inventor who is staying at a nursing home. One of her inventions is a dog dictionary attached to Sherlock’s collar that allows him to add to his huge vocabulary. It even translates unusual languages, including cat.

Something strange is going on. Several dogs are reporting that someone is taking their property–a kennel, a food dish, a bed, a blanket, and more. Chance, the champion tracking beagle, reports the thefts to the barkley family, and that begins the hunt for who is stealing the items and why.

Now that the Barkley family has decided to start their new company, The Wizard of Dogs, they begin to plan how to help the dogs in their community. One idea is to teach humans and dogs how to communicate, but they know that goal will require a lot of work. While they are talking, Steve gets a frantic phone call from Dr. MacDonald. Sherlock the border collie is missing. When they race to her house to look for him, an exciting rescue begins, but it’s a far more dangerous rescue than they expected.
