The narrator of this timeless adventure story is the lad, Jim Hawkins, whose mother keeps the Admiral Benbow, an inn on the west coast of England in the 18th century. An old buccaneer takes up residence at the inn. He has in his sea chest a map to the hiding place of Captain Flint's treasure. A gang of cutthroats are determined to get his treasure map, and - led by the sinister, blind pirate, Pew - descend on the inn. But Jim Hawkins outwits them, grabs the map, and delivers it to Squire Trelawney. The Squire and his friend Dr. Livessy set off for Treasure Island in the schooner Hispaniola, taking Jim with them. Some of the crew are the squire's faithful servants, but the majority are buccaneers recruited by the one-legged pirate, Long John Silver.

First published in 1885, Markheim blends crime, horror and the supernatural. The titular character, Markheim, visits an antiques dealer on Christmas Day to find a present for his beloved, but when the dealer’s back is turned, he stabs him to death and begins to ransack the shop for money. But he is disturbed by a spirit who knows all about Markheim’s life and forces him to consider his choices and the nature of good and evil.

Set amidst the islands of Hawaii, "The Bottle Imp" tells the tale of Keawe, a young man who comes into possession of a bottle containing a shadowy creature that grants his every wish. Of course, nothing is free, as Keawe soon discovers. He learns that he must get rid of the bottle or suffer a terrible fate. But getting rid of the bottle is not as easy at it would seem.

This little novel by Robert Lewis Stevenson is a real classic of the "horror literature". Moreover, its popularity with time only increases. The scientist puts on a daring and dangerous experiment. From the depths of the subconscious, he releases his dark personality, the sinister scoundrel and murderer, Mr. Hyde. He causes an inexplicable disgust for everyone who communicates with him. Robert Louis Stevenson was a Scottish novelist, poet, composer, essayist, and adventure writer. "The Silverado Squatters" is a travelogue of his honeymoon in the Napa Valley. "Travels with a Donkey in the Cévennes" (1879), one of his earliest published works, is considered a milestone of outdoor literature. The short story "A Lodging for the Night" (1877) was Stevenson's first published fiction, at the age of 27, while Kidnapped (1886) is an historical novel set in 18th-century Scotland, about the Appin Murder.
