What would your final meal be? This question has long troubled Jay Rayner. As a man more obsessed with his lunch than is strictly necessary, the idea of a showpiece last supper is a tantalising prospect. But wouldn’t knowledge of your imminent demise ruin your appetite? So, Jay decided to cheat death and create his last meal while he’s still very much alive - and write it all down in a book.

Born in Dublin, Dolan studied English at Trinity College, followed by a master's in Victorian literature at Oxford. Excerpts of Exciting Times have appeared in The Dublin Review and The Stinging Fly, but the book, which follows protagonist Ava and her relationships with Julian and Edith, can now be read and listened to in full - to great effect!

Joining us in the studio to talk about his latest book, Rebel Ideas, is British table tennis Olympian, author, journalist and broadcaster Matthew Syed. Known for being the ping-pong guy from popular sports podcast Flintoff, Savage and the Ping Pong Guy, Matthew Syed started his career as a table tennis player, competing in two Olympic games, and was ranked as a top player in England for 10 years. Since then, Matthew moved on to a career in journalism, writing a column in The Times and broadcasting on the BBC and Eurosport.

Alongside her journalistic career, Bryony has written several books which document her struggles with depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder and addiction. Speaking out about mental health has given Gordon a new perspective and drive on the matter, prompting her to run the London marathon two years in a row for mental health charities and start a support group, 'Mental Health Mates'.

The combined talents of Rob Grant and Andrew Marshall have had a large influence on British television. With Grant being the cocreator of Red Dwarf and former head writer of Spitting Image and Marshall responsible for 2point4children, Dad and Health & Efficiency, it seems only natural that they would team up for a radio series and novel collaboration with The Quanderhorn Xperimentations, a period sci-fi fantasy published in 2018. Rob Grant and Andrew Marshall talk to us about their latest novel spin-off, the inspiration behind it and what it’s like to write in partnership.

Tricky was a part of the original line up of the Wild Bunch, who became Massive Attack in 1987. Tricky performed with them until 1995, when he went solo with his first album, titled after his mother, Maxinquaye. He gained national and international fame, which he is famously uncomfortable with. His solo career has seen many albums released, as well as Tricky co-producing music throughout this time. We spoke to Tricky about violence in Knowle-West growing up, the first music he made and what he hopes people will take away from the book....
