Its sugar bush time in the maple tree forests of Canada. In March and April the sap from the maple trees flow. This thin sticky sap becomes one of Canada's most popular exports, maple syrup. We arrive in San Jose from a small boat across Lake Petén Itzá. There are few roads into the region. This quiet lakeside hill town has a Mayan and Spanish Language School. After a pleasant walk up the hill from the school, we find botanists preserving the traditional Mayan medicinal plants in gardens where signs help visitors with identification.

Audio Journeys are exploring the ancient ruins of a Mayan village in El Salvador. Twenty kilometers northwest of San Salvador the capital of El Salvador is the 650 year old village of Joya de Ceren, the only UNESCO World Heritage Site in El Salvador. What makes this site very unique is that the everyday life of the Mayans was preserved when around 600 A.D. a volcano erupted spewing volcanic ashes that covered the land, caused the common people to flee their homes.

Audio Journeys explores a small patch of some of the Republic of El Salvador's last remaining rainforests. Fifty spider monkeys live in the canopy of 300-year-old trees. The spider monkeys are protected as long as they stay in this very small area, known as the Chaguantique Nature Reserve.

This important private reserve is maintained by El Salvador's ministry of Natural Resources.

In London England, an exact replica of the 17th century William Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre opened in 1995. Audio journalist, Lee Daley is exploring the Globe Theatre with actress and docent, Kitty Grimes. Ms Grimes tells us how the new Globe Theatre began while we walk through the scrim and into a Shakespeare past.
