Alex knows exactly how many steps it takes to get from his home to Mason Middle School. This is normal. Alex knows the answers in AP math before his teacher does, which is also normal. Alex knows that something bad is coming out of the big screen in his special needs class. It's pushing images into his head, hurting him, making him forget. Alex pushes back, the screen explodes, and nothing is normal any more. Giant screen televisions appear all over the city. The programming is addictive. People have to watch, but Alex cannot.

Each one of these poems is infused with positive energy and given marching orders to reach those who need it most. There are common themes throughout but it is my heart's desire that one of them touches your soul and inspires you to make an amazing change in your life. I believe each person is special and that there is something inside you to share with others. This is the gift you were born with. Many never find it, but I promise it's there, waiting to be discovered, and maybe one of these poems helps you do just that.

This memoir is based on handwritten letters, cards, and newspaper clippings sent between Carole and Bill Wagener from September 1968 to August 1969. The vernacular is accurate to that time, using words that are no longer politically correct.

Assets of Inspiration is a collection of poems I started writing back in 2020 during the pandemic to encourage and inspire others during a tough time for so many. I call them poems but they are really pure inspiration and motivation disguised as poetry. Little did I know it would send me on a path to write 3 books. This is my original work that started it all. I am re-working the original writing and expanding it to be more than just poems but also diving into the assets we discover through adversity, challenge, and struggle.
