I expected aging out of the foster care system to be hard. I wasn't expecting it to include finding out I was a Warlock, destined to be hunted by the most powerful Witch Families so they could bind me to a coven of thirteen witches and spend the rest of my life "harvesting mana". Winter has come, but Dar won’t be able to rest just yet. An emissary of The White comes through Hearthway headed toward Bellhaven to investigate rumors of their treatment toward the ancient races. While entirely true, Dar has already taken care of those responsible and follows Karn into Bellhaven to observe and further his own goals.

Darius and the village of Hearthway have prepared for the winter and even thrived in the middle of it. But as their leader, Dar needs to look to the future, to spring and the war that comes with it.

Miles has enough power to take down even a titan, but is that enough to prepare him for what’s coming? His new job as the deputy director is at odds with his desire to start using his powers to make a greater difference. He has to balance his secret while going above and beyond his role at the Bureau of Superheroes.

With Miles's encouragement, Melody had accepted the physical changes wrought by ingesting monster fruit. But now, it was time to help her through everything else.
