Decades following the collapse of society, thanks to a manmade virus that created both zombies and a half-dozen new types of inhuman species, humans and inhumans live together in a decent semblance of society. Though the undead and vicious marauders roam the landscape, the average survivor can expect to have a decent life within a settlement. But that all changed. The virus has mutated. Now, the inhumans are just as susceptible to the virus as the humans, and they're turning into lethal monsters straight out of a living nightmare.

Victor Wolfe has roamed his country for 12 years now. Ever since leaving his tiny village to escape to a life that felt worthwhile, he has been traveling the lands, fighting battles, plundering old tombs, and bedding fierce adventuresses. It's been quite the life. But that all changes when he has an encounter with a monster girl, a dryad who opens his eyes to the possibilities that only monster girls can provide. Now he is headed north, toward the famed Hinterlands. An immense forest of wild adventure, ancient ruins, and, in his particular case, intense pleasure.

Though it's hardly been a few weeks since he found Fiona the beautiful snake girl and Jezzy the seductive succubus and learned of their plan to fix up an old inn to try and help bridge the gap between the various races, it feels like months have passed. And now he finds himself in a loving and intensely intimate relationship with both women.

In 2036, a rapidly destabilizing climate culminated in a worldwide snowstorm that froze the entire planet. Billions are now dead due to starvation, disease, civil unrest, and the plummeting temperatures. What remains of humanity now live in small settlements or isolated makeshift villages, carving out miserable lives in this grim new reality.

The savage Tolvar Tribe, the brutal beasts, the strange monsters, and the terrifying corrupted things that wander like the living dead out of the mysterious Barrens. He has faced and overcome every challenge so far, and has now formed a tribe of those unwanted or marked for death by their own people. Building his village in a prime location he took from the Tolvar warparty, he now lives with dozens of other exiles, including Rylee and Niri, his two beautiful bond-mates.

Lucas Mead-Slayer is closing in on his vision of a perfect life. After reuniting with his lost love Ellasandra and helping her reunite her scattered tribe of goblins by becoming chieftain, after tracking down a potion to assist him in very personally helping with repopulation efforts, after marrying several beautiful goblin girls, after tracking down the Heart of Peace...he's so close. All that's left is to enact that peace.

Having been knocked unconscious at the beginning of the surprise attack, David awakens to a nightmare: two days have passed, and the Marauders own everything. All of the settlements are completely under their control, almost everyone in the whole region has been captured, and their patrols are everywhere. But it isn't all hopeless. They've prepared for this, and as David heads out into the night to learn just how bad things are, he begins running into his friends who are still free and very much active.

With his previous situation resolved and two very attractive women now in his company, Chris takes on his next task: getting Delilah to her intended destination. Theoretically, it should be a straight shot down a long highway. Only in this new frozen wasteland of a world, nothing is ever simple. What would have been less than a two-hour drive in the old days is now possibly a two-week trek through icy hell. Vicious wildlife, dangerous men with ill intent, and brutal cold are just some of the potential threats Chris and the women will face on their long walk down the highway.

David and his two inhuman partners, Evelyn and April, just learned the hard way that the abandoned cabin they've tried to make their home isn't going to work out. After a midnight assault left their makeshift home in shambles, David sets out to seek a more defensible home. As he discovers it in the form of some nearby campgrounds, the trio begin making a new home and learning how to manage their budding relationship.

The forest that Jak, his bond-mates, and his tribe call home is safe now that they have secured alliances with the secretive nymphs and the brutal karn clan they share the space with. Or that's what everyone thought until an army of the lethal corrupted attacked their forest.

After a near death experience out in the tunnels that cross the depths of a dead world, Ethan is back on his feet and ready for more. When he arrived in Wayport less than a month ago, he had nothing but the clothes on his back. Now, everything has changed. Jak is convinced he's missing something, something crucial, and in the midst of all this primitive bloodshed, mysteries are about to be solved, and new problems will unfold.

Three months have passed since Chris helped save what remained of Pine Lake. He has finally been forced to face a problem that has hounded him since he began his nomadic lifestyle in the face of this new apocalypse: He has found a place that he wants to call home, but his intense wanderlust is driving him insane.

All of their faith is now being put into that settlement, and the train that Chris discovered and Fay repaired. Even with a mostly functional train and a lot of luck, it will still be a long journey. Any number of dangers, environmental, animal, and human, could lay in between them and their destination.

Life beneath the ashes of the old world has never been easy. For Ethan, though, it was simple in Refuge. Living in a small settlement inside a big cave and carving out a life with his little community was all he had ever known. It wasn’t a happy life, but there was little joy in a post-apocalyptic subterranean nightmare besides with the people you fought to survive with. And then he lost it all in the blink of an eye. His home destroyed, his friends and family slaughtered, he is abruptly thrust into a new life after being forced to flee to a large settlement where he knows no one.

Two weeks have passed since the last direct assault on his new home, and a string of bad blizzards have kept him from doing much more than making occasional ventures into the wilderness to look for supplies. But now the blizzards have passed, and he and his friends are determined. They've painted a target on the thieves that have terrorized this region for the past several months, and intend to eliminate them.

The long journey down the highway has come to an end, and as Chris and his girls at last find the town of Pine Lake, they discover that tragedy has struck. Raiders have burned down almost the entire town. Most of the population is dead, missing, or scattered across the region. Food reserves and medicine stocks were lost in the fire. Dangerous men and animals roam the frozen wilderness as temperatures plummet.

Victor is really starting to settle into his new life in the Hinterlands. His relationships with Fiona the snake-girl viper, Jezzy the succubus, and Nyx the eight-foot dragoness are all going well. The inn is coming along nicely. And he's become close friends with a few other beautiful women. But his new life of loving monster girls isn't quite ready. They still have a recovering necromancer who has yet to awaken from her comatose state, and they still owe a goddess a dangerous favor. Soon begins the quest to find enough allies to not die fulfilling that favor.

The pressure of time is more urgent than ever before as Jak faces a new threat to his bond-mates, his tribe, and every living thing on the island. Though his alliances are strong and he has now made peace with the Tolvar tribe, something more sinister lurks in the darker places of Ara Island. Calling on an unlikely ally, Jak is determined to dig up the truth of how the embyr control the karn, and stop them once and for all.
