L. Frank Baums "Dot and Tot of Merryland" erschien 1901, ein Jahr nach "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz", und Baum und sein Illustrator W. W. One night, when they should be snug in their beds, three little mice instead sneak out of their room to explore the house. The Story of "Hickory, Dickory, Dock" tells the real story behind the nursery rhyme favorite.

Very much in the style of L. FrankBaum ( The Wizard of Oz), this story shows that Harry Potter was not the first remarkably popular world hit in junior literature.
