Der Schattenhof sieht sich mit einer zunehmenden Zahl von Bedrohungen konfrontiert, die nicht nur Reyna, sondern auch ihren Entführer, den mysteriösen Schatten-Fae-Prinzen, unter Druck setzen. Untote Monster, eine wahnsinnige Königin, magische Flüche und uralte Geheimnisse scheinen darum zu wetteifern, ihrem Leben ein Ende zu setzen. Reyna ist gezwungen, mit dem als Monster bekannten Prinzen zusammenzuarbeiten, beginnt jedoch schon bald einzusehen, dass der Fae-Krieger nicht dem Bild entspricht, das die Gerüchte von ihm malen. Er ist gefährlich anders; leidenschaftlich und radikal anders.

Der griechische Gott der Unterwelt hat mein Leben völlig auf den Kopf gestellt und nun stelle ich alles infrage, was ich über mein Leben zu wissen geglaubt hatte. Und jetzt weiß ich nicht einmal mehr, wer ich bin. In meine Brust tobt der Krieg, mein Verlangen nach mehr Magie mit dem Wissen darüber in Einklang zu bringen, was diese Kräfte den Menschen im Olymp antun. An abused and incredibly intelligent young woman, Sylvia (aka Corban Sylvania), was abandoned by her parents at the age of sixteen. Technically homeless, she has learned to survive in the woods with the help of an older man, Holt French. Sylvia has no identifying records because she was not supposed to have been born.
