The story starts on a train, when the narrator looks up from her newspaper ​and sees the woman seated in front of her. The sadness in the woman's face ​shapes up the narrator's own life and it's meaning.

A Haunted House is a story of struggle, loss, commitment, connection, love and acceptance. It is narrated in the first person by an unnamed female narrator. A deceased man and woman roam the house for the majority of the story till they find what it is they are looking for.

The narrator notices a mark on the wall, and there starts his monologue on religion, self-reflection, nature, and uncertainties of life.
