When Darwin first introduced his ideas in "On the Origin of Species" in 1859, it posed a significant challenge to prevailing religious and scientific beliefs of the time. The prevailing views at the time held that species were created in their current forms and remained unchanged. However, Darwin's revolutionary theory of evolution by natural selection suggested a different story.
