Gibran Jalil Gibran (Yibran Jalil Yibran ibn Mija'il ibn Sa'd era su nombre completo en árabe) fue un poeta, pintor, novelista y ensayista libanés. Nace en la ciudad de Bisharri, al norte de Beirut, Líbano, el 6 de enero de 1883, de niño aprende de varias personas, entre ellas su abuelo materno, del conocimiento del arte y del saber universal, que fueron base para la literatura y la pintura. en 1895. Emigra a los Estados Unidos con su madre, Kamile Rahme (quefallece en 1903).
