  • Offszn's Best updates, Cavalry draft picks and who were the Calgary Mustangs?
    Dec 6 2024

Even though it's supposedly the offseason, we have no shortage of topics this week including the CanPL U Sports draft where Cavalry FC made a couple of picks. We review their selections and discuss what they could bring to the club in 2025.

Our interview this week is with York United's Elijah Adekugbe and Cavalry's Willie Akio. They talk about the third edition of the Offszn's Best Tournament. This is a pro-am tournament played on Dec 26-27 and attracts all the big name in the Calgary soccer world in pursuit of large cash prizes.

We also chat about some Calgary soccer history this week. When Scott was doing research for his book "Here Come the Cavalry!" he found out a lot about the Calgary Mustangs team from the 1980's. We discuss their very brief history and what made them unique among the failed pro soccer teams in Calgary.

The Calgary Wild signed a couple more players this week. We also talk about the NCAA playoff tournament and Izzy Monck transferring to Arizona State for her senior year.
