Each week on Usual Disclaimer I'll be exploring different cases from the world of true crime, sorting the fact from fiction and delving into the psychology behind what motivates people to commit such horrific acts on others. There’ll be cases from the archive of episodes I’ve already done, alongside new episodes that you can now hear, when you can’t watch. • 81: Mommy Murdered the Night Before Christmas
    Dec 12 2024
In 2011, the night before Christmas, a mother of 3 and student Za’Zell Preston was murdered hours after leaving a Christmas Eve party in California. On Christmas morning her body was found propped up on the sofa, wearing sunglasses, watching her children open presents, in an apartment covered in blood. Her husband William Wallace made phone calls to the entire family, before finally agreeing to call an Ambulance for Za’Zell. But shortly after calling that Ambulance, William would find himself incarcerated awaiting trial, for almost a decade. For the 3 years leading up to her death, William had subjected Za’Zell to a relationship from hell. William’s abuse had put Za’Zell in hospital multiple times and he promised to kill her if she ever left Za’Zell would share her emotional turmoil in love on Facebook and desperately tried to fix the man she loved most, even enrolling to study domestic violence herself. But in 2011, with plans to finally leave him for good and become a counsellor to help other women break free from domestic violence, Za’Zell’s time to escape with her life, would tragically run out. What began as a simple trip turned into one of Spain's most shocking and horrific murder cases. Over 12 days, 5,000 people, including Gabriel’s father’s girlfriend, Ana Julia Quezada, joined the search. But no one suspected she was hiding a terrifying secret. On March 11th, Gabriel’s body was found in Ana Julia’s car. She had murdered him, buried him, and then moved his body. She was sentenced to life in prison but the story didn’t end there. Without laws to prevent criminals from profiting off their crimes, Ana Julia sold the rights to her story, sparking massive public outrage across Spain. Calls for justice and a change to the legal system spread with the slogan #TodosSomosGabriel. Interesting and well presented

I love Eleanor, have been an avid fan for years. Wanted to provide support in this simple way. She is professional, respectful, informative. Haven't got a bad word to say about her.

My only very small and nitpicky comment for improvement would be that the audio on these can be a little echoey which is slightly distracting for my neurodivergent brain.
