The Woman Caught in Adultery
John 8:1-11
“he stooped down, and wrote on the ground”
An early morning Bible study with Jesus got interrupted by the Pharisees, who brought in the temple a woman that got caught in the act of adultery. But oh did they get a surprise! Instead of focusing on this woman’s sin, Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground, being convicted by their own conscience. They went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last. Jesus was not interested in broadcasting their sin. To others but to the very heart of the sinner Jesus taught, “Why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?”
Where are those, thine accusers? Hath no man condemned thee? She said, “ No man, Lord.” And Jesus said unto her, “ Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.”
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
