"The Russian Mennonites story, the Golden Era." - Chester Weaver

  • Summary

  • Chester Weaver shares on the Mennonites and lessons we can learn from their history. Mennonites migrated to four separate regions in Russia when they were pushed out of Prussia. At each of the four new locations, they prospered financially. Doing so, they developed an attitude of superiority toward the native local population. At each new location, they governed themselves as a tiny commonwealth within greater Russia. This self-government forced them to become small state churches because they needed to enforce their own laws. The Kleine Gemeinde was the first renewal movement among the Russian Mennonites, and the Mennonite Brethren was the second renewal movement.
