  • What We Say To Ourselves Matters: Combatting Negative Self-Talk
    Dec 11 2024

Have you ever stopped to listen to the way you talk to yourself? Those quiet whispers of self-doubt or harsh criticism can shape your reality in ways you may not even realize. Negative self-talk isn’t just a fleeting thought—it’s a pattern that can erode confidence, fuel stress, and hold you back from living the life you deserve. But here’s the good news: with awareness and the right tools, you can challenge and transform those inner messages. Imagine replacing self-criticism with curiosity, kindness, and self-compassion and turning your inner critic into your greatest advocate. The journey starts with one simple truth—what you say to yourself matters.

In this episode, we talk about what negative self-talk looks like, how it might impact you, and how you can address it in your own life with a returning guest, Jen Baumgold. Jen is a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist who specializes in trauma treatment. She is certified in EMDR and works with clients to help untangle the knots of trauma while finding a path toward healing and resilience. After graduating with her master's in social work, Jen began her career at the New York Fire Department counseling service unit, where she worked until 2016. During her time there, she provided crucial mental health support to FDYN members and their families.

In addition to her private practice, Jen is an active member of the Fair Field Trauma Response team, a volunteer alliance of mental health professionals committed to aiding first responders and the local communities in healing from trauma, tragedy, and stress.

  • Spirituality for Emotional Resilience and Cultivating Hope
    Dec 4 2024

The holiday season, while often filled with joy and celebration, can also amplify feelings of loneliness, grief, and overwhelm. In those moments, it’s easy to feel as though we’re navigating life’s challenges alone, carrying burdens too heavy to bear. But what if the very struggles we face are opportunities to connect with a deeper source of strength? In this episode, Rev. Lizzie reminds us that through spirituality, we can find a wellspring of resilience and hope. Whether we’re juggling endless to-do lists or grieving a profound loss, Lizzie shares how God’s presence and love offer us the courage to endure, grow, and heal—even in life’s most trying seasons.

Rev. Lizzie McManus Dail has lived all over the world with her boots now rooted in Austin, Texas, where she is living her dream as the founder of Jubilee Episcopal Church. Lizzie is passionate about the evangelism of a God who makes each of us for joy, which is why you might see her doing silly dances and talking about church history on Instagram and TikTok with her 80K followers.

As a graduate of Mt. Holyoke College, Lizzie brought a passion for intersectional feminism and queer theology to her studies at Duke Divinity School and Seminary of the Southwest. It was her time in both Massachusetts and North Carolina that brought her into the Episcopal church, where she was ordained in 2020. While grateful for her academic formation, she still swears most things she learned about being a priest she learned from 5 plus years of working in the service industry and access to the arts in her public high school.

  • The Gut-Life Balance: How Acupuncture Assists with Digestive Discomfort
    Nov 27 2024

We don’t just digest food—we digest life. Every thought, feeling, and experience we encounter impacts our gut health, making digestion about so much more than what’s on our plate. For women, this connection is even more profound, as stress, hormonal changes, and emotional well-being often show up in the form of bloating, acid reflux, IBS, and other gut issues. Acupuncture, a powerful tool in East Asian medicine, helps restore balance by addressing both the physical and emotional aspects of digestion. It’s not just about relieving symptoms—it’s about nurturing your body and mind to feel your best from the inside out.

In this episode, we talk about how acupuncture and East Asian medicine can support and heal digestion and gastrointestinal issues that are prevalent today with Jacques Depardieu. Jacques is nationally board-certified in acupuncture and traditional Chinese pharmacology and has been practising for over 25 years. He has a masters in oriental medicine and has been a Qigong practitioner for over 30 years. Jacques is a self-described advocate for the human spirit, having treated thousands of individuals for a wide array of conditions. He understands the role that spirit, creativity, and spontaneity play in creating health and recovery.

    Tune in!

    • [42:30] Simple lifestyle changes you can make to support your digestive health
    • [46:18] Wrap up and end of the show

    Standout Quotes:

    • “We not only digest the food we eat, we’ve to digest our life, all of our thoughts and feelings are processes of digestion.” [11:32]
    • “Whenever people digestive issues settle down, their sleep problems improve as well” [37:19]
    • “You can’t fix a problem in somebody’s hip or shoulder if they don’t have a healthy digestive system, and are not sleeping.” [41:47]
    • “If you’re not going to the bathroom, you’re not digesting well, and you’re not sleeping, it’s very difficult to heal your body from anything, specifically digestive issues.” [42:02]
