• S2,E22: Zampa brothers & the races are coming!
    Jan 9 2025
In this extra special episode, brought to you by Ski Racing Media, Alan and I chatted with the 3 Zampa brothers from Slovakia, Adam, Andreas and Teo. In the interview we gave Adam and Andreas a chance to reminisce about the early stages of their career with Teo recalling watching them for years on the TV. Off the back of matching his World Cup personal best in Alta Badia before Christmas, Andreas spoke about talking that form into the new year. Adam, the eldest of the three, discusses how very slowly Andreas and now, Teo, are catching up to him as the most experienced Zampa. We also spoke about the future, with Teo hoping to follow in the footsteps of his two brothers. It is clear that they have full belief that he will also be successful. With Adam and Andreas looking to continue scoring in the World Cup. We could also see all three of the brothers race the World Championship Giant Slalom in Saalbach next month. We finished with a very special section where we asked the brothers some family questions and who is the best at certain things. This episode is brought to you by Ski Racing Media. • S2,E15: Konrad Bartelski
    Dec 19 2024
In this episode, brought to you by Ski Racing Media, we had the opportunity to chat to the first and only British man to score a FIS World Cup downhill podium in Konrad Bartelski. He shared with us the trips to Austria he took from the age of three and convincing his father to extend their vacation in Kitzbuhel to watch the Hahnenkamm downhill when he was an aspiration ski racer. He also talks about the international dismissal of British ski racers and disregard for the Union Jack in alpine competition. Konrad spoke about his first Olympic experience, aged 17, in Sapporo 1972 where he told some tales from the early days of his professional career. Konrad’s big moment came in December 1981 when he finished second to Erwin Resch, missing a historical victory by just 11 hundredths of a second in Val Gardena. Bartelski also talks about several things he has done in retirement including broadcasting on the BBC’s Ski Sunday as well as photography that allows him to capture picturesque winter and alpine scenery that allows him to feel involved in the sport long beyond his racing career. We also gave a quick preview and our thoughts on the events this alpine ski racing weekend with the speed events in Val Gardena for the men and the two Super-G’s, where Lindsey Vonn will make her much-anticipated return to FIS WC competition, for the women in St Moritz.
