Simple Acts, Big Impact

By: Simple Acts Guide
  • Summary

  • Natalie Silverstein, MPH, is an author, consultant, nonprofit founder, and passionate advocate for family and youth service. Her latest book, Simple Acts: The Busy Teens Guide to Making a Difference, was created to help adolescents and teens discover their passion and purpose through acts of kindness and service to others. She believes that you don't need to change the whole world to make a big impact. Even the smallest stone thrown into the water creates a ripple. Teens CAN make a meaningful difference - one simple act at a time. Simple Acts, Big Impact is a short podcast that highlights and celebrates 'tween and teen volunteers, nonprofit founders, activists, and fundraisers, amplifying these stories and inspiring all of us to take the first step toward making service an important part of their lives.

  • Ava S.: Ava Claus and Friends
    Dec 25 2024

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate! I'm delighted to re-share this episode which originally aired in December, 2022. It is a perfect way to remember the true spirit of the Christmas holiday. Ava S. was only 6 years old when a classmate who was fighting leukemia inspired her to launch a project called Ava Claus, providing toys for children in the hospital. The effort turned into Ava Claus and Friends and a partnership with the Broward Children's Center.

  • Akanksha and Claire: Sketching with Seniors
    Dec 11 2024

My guests today, Akanksha and Claire from Atlanta, bonded over a shared love of art and a huge heart for the elderly. During the pandemic, they decided to create a free online art program called Sketching with Seniors to bridge the generational gap between young people who want to share their creativity and the isolated and lonely older adults who could benefit from the stimulation and connection.
