About this listen

This original podcast will be available on September 9th.

Say You’re Sorry is a timely, insightful podcast series about public apologies, exploring why they’re harder to give (and receive) than you might expect.

It seems like every day we see new apologies making headlines: from politicians and executives delivering statements of regret, NotesApp missives, teary YouTube videos, and more. But how did we get here? Why do we invest so much in these moments of reflection and remorse? And why is it so hard for adults to do something we teach children?

Each episode of Say You’re Sorry dives deep into a different apology arena, from the #MeToo movement to reparations, corporate blunders to saying sorry on social media, and much more, ultimately offering a unique and illuminating perspective on apologies in the public arena and in our own lives.

  • Episode 1 - The Anatomy of an Apology
    Sep 9 2021
It seems like every day there’s a new apology in the news. But are all these “I’m sorry's" actually getting us anywhere? Lux Alptraum and Siona Peterous take a look at Justin Timberlake’s Instagram apology to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson and discuss whether it’s too little, too late.

    Sep 9 2021
When Lacy Crawford published a memoir about being sexually assaulted as a student at St. Paul’s School, she hoped it would spark change on campus. What she never could have imagined was that it would lead to an apology from the board of St. Paul’s - or that the apology would fall apart shortly after it was delivered.

I did listen to the whole thing... A few decent episodes marred by silly wokeness. Definitely some strong anti-male and pro- cancel culture sentiments in here. It seems offensive to compare things such as the deepwater horizon incident and the holocaust with silly celebrity and YouTube dramas combined with the creators own woke agendas. Some episodes feel very one-sided and hold numerous people as guilty just based on someone's word alone or a single perspective (not to say that said people are innocent necessarily, but the woke "guilty until proven innocent" is very much present here).
