• In this episode I speak with a young man who moved to Denver from New York to start med school, last year
• After joking with one another briefly about parents who spell their children's names weird, I do what I do best and take command of the conversation by turning simple questions I get asked into runaway monologues.
• We manage to explore a few different topics together, led by his prompting, including how I feel about missing people and things, my experience doing ice baths, the place my writing holds in my life and why it's important, and my commitment to my relationship with myself.
• Contrary to other episodes I have published, I actually am going to include this guy's name, but only because it was an essential part of the conversation we had. This won't be a regular practice.

• In this episode, I sit down with a woman committed to the work of helping men rediscover their authenticity and step more boldly into a sense of healthy, integrated masculine empowerment.
• I met her recently on Instagram, when I stumbled across her page and her coaching program. We exchanged a few messages before I realized I should probably enroll in her program, because I had literally asked the internet where the program for men was one day after stumbling upon a similar course designed to help women step more boldly into their feminine energy.
• To see a woman so devoted to the empowerment of men is something truly rare in my experience of 21st century American culture. It certainly doesn't seem like the kind of thing most women are readily prepared to trumpet as vital, meaningful work.
• I had asked her a few days before enrolling in her course if she would possibly like to be my first planned guest on the podcast, and this was supposed to be our first video chat to test the waters and feel things out. Needless to say, we turned it into an episode.

• After giving this guy a hard time about living halfway across the city, I reigned in my ego a bit so we could have a vulnerable conversation together
• I begin by expressing to him how unexcitable I've become in my life. This trails into a conversation about external validation, the false stories we tell ourselves, becoming risk averse, late 90's and early 2000's television, censorship, the terrifying impact poorly managed media consumption may be having on the minds of our children, and eventually circles back around to how our confidence showing up authentically in the world is connected to our tendency to project our fears and assumptions onto situations and relationships.
• This entire episode is actually a great follow-up to the one I released yesterday, where the sociologic idea of "the looking glass self" was brought up in conversation. It's kind of crazy how so many things recently seem to be lining up in strange ways.

In this conversation, after touching briefly on both the headache of dealing with a hit and run car accident as well as how outrageously expensive college tuition has become, we do a mini deep dive into egoic dating behaviors, rejection, self-worth, and ways having our needs unmet through our relationships with our parents may seep into our adult behavior.
