• Episode 9: When Faith Requires Us to Trust Without Comprehension

What does it mean to trust when understanding seems impossibly out of reach? During this special Women's History Month episode, we dive deep into the remarkable story of Mary, mother of Jesus, and uncover a spiritual practice that revolutionized my own journey through grief.

The story seems simple on the surface—a twelve-year-old Jesus remains behind at the temple while his parents unknowingly travel home without him. But within this familiar narrative lies a profound revelation about faith. When Mary finally locates Jesus teaching among the temple scholars, his response puzzles her: "Didn't you know I had to be in my Father's house?" Scripture tells us plainly that Mary "did not understand," yet in the very next breath reveals that "she treasured all these things in her heart."

This tension between not understanding and still choosing to trust resonates deeply with my own recent experience of miscarriage. Through tears, I share how Mary's example of collecting moments with God—like precious seashells along a shore—provided a lifeline during my darkest days of grief. These "seashell moments" reminded me that painful circumstances don't represent God's final word or ultimate plan.

The greatest gift Mary offers modern women isn't perfect motherhood or unwavering courage (though she demonstrated both), but rather this practice of treasuring divine moments that sustain us when life makes no sense. Her ability to say "I don't understand, but I trust you" creates a pathway through confusion that doesn't deny our questions but anchors us through them.

Whether you're facing impossible questions, navigating grief, or simply feeling disconnected from God's plan, this episode offers gentle encouragement to collect your own faith tokens—those unmistakable moments with God that will sustain you when understanding seems far away. Join our community of women growing together in faith, and discover how Mary's ancient wisdom speaks powerfully to our modern struggles.

  • Episode 8: Finding Seashells of Faith When Life Doesn't Make Sense
    Mar 11 2025

What does it mean to trust God when His plans make absolutely no sense to us? Mary, the mother of Jesus, offers us a masterclass in faith that doesn't depend on understanding.

During this Women's History Month episode, we dive into the often-overlooked story from Luke 2 where Mary and Joseph lose track of twelve-year-old Jesus at the Passover festival. When they finally discover Him teaching in the temple, Jesus responds with the puzzling words: "Didn't you know I had to be in my Father's house?" Scripture explicitly tells us Mary didn't understand what He meant—yet she "treasured all these things in her heart."

This treasuring practice becomes our focus as we explore how collecting moments of God's faithfulness (like gathering seashells along the shore) prepares us for seasons when trust must operate without understanding. Mary's ability to hold both confusion and faith simultaneously would eventually sustain her through watching her son die on a cross.

The episode takes a vulnerable turn as I share my own journey through miscarriage in 2024 and how Mary's example guided me through overwhelming questions and grief. When understanding fails us, we can still choose trust—not as a denial of our pain, but as an acknowledgment that God's goodness transcends our limited perspective.

Whether you're currently navigating uncertainty or preparing for future challenges, this episode offers practical wisdom for developing a faith that remains steadfast even when answers aren't forthcoming. Subscribe now and join our growing community of women seeking to live freely in Christ, embracing both the questions and the trust that defines authentic faith.

Why do many Christian women struggle with forming deep friendships, and how can we overcome these challenges? In our latest episode of the Freely She Could podcast, I, Soli, invite you to join me on a journey through the intricate dynamics of community and friendships. We explore the necessity of vulnerability and intentionality, particularly when faced with confrontation and conflict. Drawing insights from a thought-provoking article, we uncover how our fast-paced culture affects these relationships, urging us to reevaluate our approach to connection through the teachings of Jesus. Discover how embodying His love and compassion can transform the way we interact with one another.

Prepare to rethink friendship through the metaphor of "different types of soup." I share a personal story that highlights cultural expectations when my friends didn't bring me soup while I was sick—a custom deeply rooted in my Korean American heritage. This led me to reflect on how different expressions of care, like texts, calls, or gestures of encouragement, can enrich our bonds. By understanding these diverse expressions, we learn the importance of communication, using "I" statements to prevent misunderstandings and build healthier relationships. As we wrap up this episode, we challenge you to evaluate your friendships against these insights and get ready for our next conversation on healing and restoration in community.
