About this listen

Larry Harnisch tells Doug who he believes murdered Elizabeth Short. But even if Larry could prove it beyond a reasonable doubt, would people even believe him after all this time? Larry’s theory lacks the splashy Hollywood appeal of Steve Hodel’s, but when Larry reveals the name to Doug, the pieces seem to fit together. But will there ever be a way to 100% prove the identity of Short’s killer? And how will Doug explain the bombshell dropped about a highly unlikely person investigating a very similar cold case murder... Elizabeth Short herself.

Great presentation of the facts of the case and potential suspects. A good range of expert opinions. Enjoyed it.

Interesting

Often do I listen to audio podcasts of murders or mysteries, but they usually have one point of view and it frustrates me. This podcast looks at debunking some of the myths of the sad case of Elizabeth Short (the black Daliah) life and death as well as giving you something to really think about

Really interesting take on such a terrible death

Very interesting up until the last episode. Felt like you were grasping at straws and the fact that you only dedicated one episode to your explanation was evidence enough that you were looking for a bow to tie the series with.

Grasping

interesting so I persevered, but it was slow and a little over dramatic and repetitive.

Interesting but slow

Elizabeth Short should be remembered for the young woman she was and not just as the victim of this horrendous crime. I think this Podcast deals with the case sensitively and tries to give her the dignity she deserves.

Sad case ,sensitivity covered

I understand that this is an American production, and classic, dramatic music and sound effects are a prerequisite for true crime and documentaries, but it’s so aged and cheesy it takes away from the piece.
Great intro and thorough interviews for someone totally green to the case

Cheesy music

Compelling, logical and wonderfully voiced by the author. Debunking, voicing theories, and with an honest ending. It can be grim, but you get warned. Truly highlights how the victim can get completely lost in the sensationalising of a case. Attention and care was used in creating this podcast/series.

Well worth listening to!!

Great listen.
was drawn in straight away.
highly recommend for true crime enthusiasts.
being from the UK, I had heard of the case, but not the depth of detail as in this.
very good narration.

A riveting story.

A fascinating story, and the narration was well done. If you like true crime i definitely recommend it. I am a ripperologist, and there are some interesting parallels here. Do I think the main person put forward was a possibility? I don’t think he could be ruled out. However… for me, whilst I agree there was some circumstantial evidence, I felt the motive was somewhat lacking.

Well worth a listen

Having been fascinated by this case my whole life, this is the most well thought out, most ccomprehensive story I've heard.
Incredible detective work by an ex CIA officer, this is, as far as I am concerned, the definitive answer. Brilliantly presented.
